San Francisco 49ers tight end Vernon Davis has made it known he wants a new contract, but he doesn't seem to be overly concerned about it.
"I want a new contract," Davis told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. "It’s just like any athlete, we all want a new contract. But I’m not going to stress over it. It’s not the end of the world if I don’t get it. If I get it, that’s good. It’s moving slowly, but surely. At the end of the day, if I don’t get the deal, at least I tried and I put my foot down. If I don’t get it at the moment, I’m not going to lose any sleep."
Davis seems more concerned about Jimmy Graham's grievance that he should be paid like a wide receiver, since he realizes that could ultimately lead to more money for him down the road.
"I pray that Jimmy Graham passes as a wide receiver. Because at the end of the day, if he passes as a wide receiver, that’s better for the rest of the tight ends. He will have opened up a door, a pathway for the rest of the group."
