Seattle Seahawks star Jaxon Smith-Njigba revealed Monday night on Instagram that his Offensive Player of the Year trophy featured multiple inscribed errors.
The trophy appeared to be mistakenly labeled "Defensive Player of the Year" and lacking a space between the words "the" and "year."

"I really want to expose them. It's getting disrespectful, guys," Smith-Njigba said in the video.
The wide receiver captioned the video, "It's getting disrespectful at this point." He later posted a second Instagram story with a photo of himself and a caption that read, "Just keep the award at this point. Leave it in the history books tho."
NFL spokesperson Brian McCarthy told The Athletic's Jayna Bardahl on Tuesday that Smith-Njigba will receive a new award. He also explained that the "defensive" mistake is actually a misspelling that reads, "oefensive."
"The league made the mistake. We sincerely apologize to Jaxon for the error and are in the process of creating and shipping him a new trophy," McCarthy said. "Of course, like the teams he played against this year, we know how great an offensive player he is. We just had a problem spelling it."
During the NFL Honors event in February, comedian Druski mispronounced Smith-Njigba's name multiple times while announcing his award.
The 24-year-old had a career year in 2025, posting 119 receptions, 10 touchdowns, and a league-leading 1,793 receiving yards. Those marks earned him a Pro Bowl nod and a first-team All-Pro selection.
Smith-Njigba was crucial to the Seahawks' Super Bowl run, recording 17 catches for 199 yards and two scores in three postseason contests. Seattle rewarded him with a four-year, $168-million extension in March, making him the highest-paid wideout in NFL history.
