Report: Chiefs' Reid gives up playcalling duties vs. Jets

Kirby Lee / USA TODAY Sports

With the Kansas City Chiefs mired in a slump that's put their playoff chances in jeopardy, head coach Andy Reid has elected to give up playcalling duties Sunday against the New York Jets, reports ESPN's Chris Mortensen, citing team sources.

Offensive coordinator Matt Nagy will handle the offensive gameplan for the 6-5 Chiefs.

Kansas City has lost five of its last six games and is clinging to a one-game lead in the AFC West.

Reid has said all players and coaches share the blame for the Chiefs' woes. Rather than consider benching quarterback Alex Smith, Reid is hoping a new voice will help spark the team's offense.

The Chiefs have been held to 17, nine, and 10 points in their last three games, all losses.
