VIDEO: Trailer for 'I Hate Christian Laettner' 30-for-30 released
Well, this is going to be good.
ESPN released the trailer for a new 30-for-30 documentary on Monday, and it's one that college basketball fans should be salivating over. "I Hate Christian Laettner" will air on ESPN on March 15 at 9 p.m., right after Selection Sunday.
If a documentary about one of the most hated men in college basketball history doesn't get you psyched for March Madness, there's no hope for you.
In the 30-second trailer alone, there are several vicious quotes about the two-time NCAA champion, two-time ACC Athlete of the Year, 1991 Final Four Most Outstanding Player, 1992 National college player of the year, Dream Team member and one-time NBA All-Star:
"I hated Christian Laettner."
"He was a bad dude but he could back it up with his play."
"It was good versus evil. We didn't like him."
"I wanted to jump down and punch the dude in the face."
"If people think sports is goody-goody touchy-feely, it's not."
The hate for Laettner is understandable considering how good his Duke teams were and how historic his NCAA Tournament performances were. Laettner remains the all-time NCAA Tournament record-holder for points scored, games played and free throws. And, of course, he made one of the most amazing shots in basketball history:
The documentary is directed by Rory Karpf, who also directed "The Book of Manning", "Herschel" and a host of other sports documentaries.
