The South Carolina Gamecocks picked up a big 2015 commitment on Wednesday from P.J. Dozier, a four-star, 6-foot-6 guard from Columbia, South Carolina.
Dozier, whose father and uncle played at South Carolina, is ESPN's 21st-ranked player in the 2015 class. Many expected him to commit to Louisville.
"South Carolina wouldn't be in the mix if I didn't feel like they had the players and coaches to (turn it around)," Dozier said, according to ESPN's Jeff Brozello. "I'm definitely excited to play along with them and get this going.
"It was just a feel. All the coaches did a great job recruiting, no one really better than the other. In the end, it just came down to how I felt."
The Gamecocks program has fallen on hard times, having struggled through five straight losing seasons, and without an NCAA tournament berth since 2003-04. They went 14-20 last season.
