Legendary collegiate coach Rollie Massimino died in his home at the age of 82 after a lengthy battle with lung cancer.
His death was announced by Keiser University, where Massimino had worked for 12 years.
Massimino is best known for leading Villanova to a massive upset of Georgetown in the 1985 national title game. His eighth-seeded Wildcats shocked the heavily favored Hoyas led by Patrick Ewing. That title stood as Villanova's only national championship in nearly a century of existence before it won again in 2016.
He finished with a lifetime record of 816-462 across stints with Villanova, UNLV, Cleveland State, and Keiser University.
