Former NBA Draft No. 1 overall pick Anthony Bennett has signed with Turkish basketball powerhouse Fenerbahce, sources told Bleacher Report's David Pick.
The team is run by former Toronto Raptors assistant general manager and current Canada Basketball board member Maurizio Gherardini. Bennett has represented his native Canada at the international level since the 2009 FIBA U-16 tournament.
The 23-year-old was waived by the Brooklyn Nets on Monday, likely ending the NBA career of a player considered by many to be one of the biggest draft busts in league history. After being a surprise No. 1 pick by the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2013, Bennett struggled with his conditioning and to get playing time on four teams over the next four seasons.
In 151 NBA contests, he averaged 4.4 points and 3.1 rebounds on just 39.2 percent shooting from the floor.
