The first of many.
April 10 was, and still is, a special day for Hall of Famer Ken Griffey Jr., arguably one of the great players to ever grace a major-league field.
It was 28 years ago to the day that the 19-year-old Seattle Mariners outfielder, who would become commonly known as "The Kid," swatted the first home run of his career.
Griffey Jr. used his patented sweet swing to crush a first-pitch offering from Chicago White Sox right-hander Eric King over the left-field fence for the first home run of what would become an eventual 630 during his 22-year career.
Griffey Jr. retired from baseball after the 2010 season and was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2016.
