The Baltimore Orioles signed reliever Yennier Cano to a two-year contract extension with a club option for the 2029 season, the team announced Friday.
Cano will pocket $7.5 million guaranteed plus an additional $10 million if his option is exercised by the Orioles, sources told MLB.com's Mark Feinsand.
The right-hander would have been arbitration-eligible for two more seasons, which means the club option could buy out a year of free agency.
Cano, 32, owns a 2.21 ERA with a career-best 0.95 WHIP and 31 strikeouts over 48 appearances this season.
The 2023 All-Star sits in the 100th percentile for ground-ball percentage and in the 96th percentile for walk percentage.
