"Admitted that I was wrong. I told them I was not coming here with any excuses. "I want to be here my whole career. So, seeing the team and my teammates going through (struggles) and not being able to help ... was where the frustration was coming from."</p><p>Acuña could rejoin the Braves at the end of May or early June based on his rehab games.</p>

<p>MLB removed Pete Rose, "Shoeless" Joe Jackson, and other deceased players from the permanently ineligible list, the league announced Tuesday.</p><p>National Baseball Hall of Fame chairman Jane Forbes Clark said the decision will allow players who've been removed from the list to be considered for enshrinement, according to <a href="https://x.com/Feinsand/status/1922385240284127450">Mark Feinsand of MLB.com</a>. A historical committee will create an eight-person ballot for the Classic Baseball Era Committee to vote on in December 2027, Forbes Clark added.</p><p>Under the Hall of Fame's current rules, the earliest that Rose and Jackson could be inducted is 2028.</p><div class="the-score-article-ad-unit"></div><p>MLB commissioner Rob Manfred ruled that permanent ineligibility is lifted when a player dies.</p><p>"Obviously, a person no longer with us cannot represent a threat to the integrity of the game," Manfred wrote in a letter to Rose's lawyer, Jeffrey M. Lenkov, according to <a href="https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/45115659/pete-rose-shoeless-joe-jackson-players-reinstated-mlb">Don Van Natta Jr. of ESPN</a>. "Moreover, it is hard to conceive of a penalty that has more deterrent effect than one that lasts a lifetime with no reprieve.</p><p>"Therefore, I have concluded that permanent ineligibility ends upon the passing of the disciplined individual, and Mr. Rose will be removed from the permanently ineligible list."</p><p>Rose, baseball's all-time hit king, was placed on the permanently ineligible list in 1989 for betting on baseball games while he was a player-manager for the Cincinnati Reds in 1986. A 1991 rule change made players on the list ineligible for the Hall of Fame.</p><p>Cincinnati will honor Rose, who died in September 2024 at age 83, before playing the Chicago White Sox on Wednesday.</p><p>The 17-time All-Star recorded 4,256 hits over a 24-year career that included stops with the Reds, Philadelphia Phillies, and Montreal Expos from 1963-86. He's also the major-league leader in games played (3,562), at-bats (14,053), singles (3,215), and times on base (5,929).</p><p>Jackson and seven other White Sox were banned in 1921 for fixing the 1919 World Series in what is now referred to as the Black Sox Scandal<em>. </em>Jackson, who posted a career .356 batting average, died in 1951 but remains a well-known figure in baseball lore and pop culture after Ray Liotta portrayed him in the 1989 film "Field of Dreams."</p>

The right-hander owns a 4.45 ERA with 12.5 K/9 across 30 1/3 innings (seven starts) in Triple-A this season but was rocked in his MLB debut May 4, allowing six earned runs on nine hits over 3 2/3 innings against the St. Louis Cardinals.</p>

"We'll just see how he heals up."</p><p>The 27-year-old got hurt last Tuesday during a game against the Baltimore Orioles. <p>Seattle Mariners outfielder <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///mlb/players/9945" href="https://thescore.com/mlb/players/9945">Luke Raley</a> will need a minimum of six weeks to recover from a right oblique strain, general manager Justin Hollander announced Wednesday, according to <a href="https://x.com/DKramer_/status/1917639230974747005">Daniel Kramer of MLB.com</a>.</p><p>Raley acknowledged that he sustained the injury while swinging during batting practice Tuesday.</p><p>"Sometimes they heal really quick, and sometimes they linger and take a while," Raley <a href="https://x.com/DKramer_/status/1917664614390653255">said</a>. "It's really painful. Until that calms down, I've just got to kind of wait."</p><div class="the-score-article-ad-unit"></div><p>The 30-year-old joins <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///mlb/players/5688" href="https://thescore.com/mlb/players/5688">Dylan Moore</a>, <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///mlb/players/5395" href="https://thescore.com/mlb/players/5395">Victor Robles</a>, <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///mlb/players/12376" href="https://thescore.com/mlb/players/12376">Logan Gilbert</a>, and <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///mlb/players/12378" href="https://thescore.com/mlb/players/12378">George Kirby</a> on the injured list.</p><p>"We're really beat up right now, but ... no one's going to feel sorry for us, so we'll do everything we can to give these guys the best chance," Hollander said, per <a href="https://x.com/A_Jude/status/1917647050084344149">Adam Jude of The Seattle Times</a>.</p><p>Raley has gone deep twice with eight RBIs and a .669 OPS over 24 games this season after hitting a career-high 22 homers with a 129 wRC+ across 137 contests in 2024.</p><p>The Mariners promoted rookie outfielder <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///mlb/players/16154" href="https://thescore.com/mlb/players/16154">Rhylan Thomas</a> to take Raley's place on the active roster.</p>

The four-time All-Star hasn't yet produced like he can, but there are zero concerns since the new season is just over a month old. The 26-year-old's .374 on-base percentage is elite as always, but the powers numbers are significantly down, with three homers and a .398 slugging percentage through 30 games. However, Soto's presence in the lineup is clearly a factor, as the Mets boast an MLB-best 21-9 record. The five-tool star has been his usual excellent self at the plate, slashing .288/.397/.568 with seven home runs, 25 RBIs, and eight stolen bases. It's not just his production that stands out, however, as his presence seems to have made everyone around him better. However, the 31-year-old's been Boston's best player to start 2025. He leads the team in hits (40), doubles (11), homers (six), RBIs (23), batting average (.331), OPS (.971), and fWAR (1.5). Injuries to both holdovers have forced Fried to become the ace in New York, and he's done an excellent job so far. The lefty owns a 5-0 record with a 1.19 ERA and 1.04 WHIP through six starts, having not allowed more than two earned runs in any of them. The 30-year-old's FIP and WHIP are consistently going up while his K/9 goes down, which suggests he's not the dominant swing-and-miss pitcher he once was. His 4.1 BB/9 in 2025 is also a career worst. Burnes' whiff rate is in the 27th percentile and hard-hit percentage is shockingly in the fifth percentile. The fit was always questionable on paper: Oracle Park in San Francisco is a tough place for righties to hit for power. The two-time Cy Young winner hasn't pitched in almost a month due to a shoulder issue, and a timetable for his return is unclear after a recent injection. The 32-year-old isn't new to injuries, as he logged just 104 innings last year and only made 31-plus starts in a season twice over his 10-year career. The 23-year-old starter has shown flashes of what made him such a hot commodity during the offseason, but his skills aren't refined yet and feel raw. He's only made it through six innings once and has walked almost as many batters (18) and he's struck out (20). Sasaki's Baseball Savant page is also covered with blue outside of fastball velocity. The Blue Jays' marquee offseason addition has gotten off to a brutal start, hitting just three home runs in 28<strong> </strong>games after clubbing 44 last year. He ranks in the 38th percentile or worse in barrel rate, hard-hit rate, and expected slugging percentage. His struggles at the plate, coupled with his poor defense and baserunning, have amounted to a minus-0.4 fWAR thus far. <p>Pittsburgh Pirates ace <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///mlb/players/17521" href="https://thescore.com/mlb/players/17521">Paul Skenes</a> wants to be remembered as a pitcher who had a long career while breaking velocity barriers.</p><p>"Yeah, that's the goal," Skenes told <a href="https://www.si.com/mlb/paul-skenes-rise-of-pitching-velocity-baseball-ultimate-barrier-digital-cover">Tom Verducci of Sports Illustrated</a>. "Nobody in the big leagues has my stuff. We're writing our own book. Because I've tried it the other way. It doesn't work. It's my game out there. There is no model for me"</p><p>The 22-year-old phenom is doing everything he can to stay healthy amid an epidemic of pitching injuries throughout baseball related to increased velocity.</p><div class="the-score-article-ad-unit"></div><p>"I'm trying to know more than anybody else," Skenes said. "There is an element of chance to it. There's also an element to do everything you can and know your body. And I think that a lot of people, they just don't know what they don't know. I'm trying to be the first guy to do these things, right?"</p><p>Pirates general manager Ben Cherington acknowledged that Skenes' demeanor reminds him of another MLB superstar.</p><p>"It's the combination of the quality of the pitches with an assassin's mindset," Cherington said. "He's also just really big and strong and intimidating.</p><p>"Comparisons are really dangerous  …  but I can make this one because it's less about the players but more about the people. This is what I remember about <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///mlb/players/4184" href="https://thescore.com/mlb/players/4184">Mookie Betts</a>. A combination of incredibly high standards, a willingness to work for those, but a deep humility in how they go about their work."</p><p>Skenes owns a 2.39 ERA with a 0.80 WHIP and 39 strikeouts over 37 2/3 innings (six starts) this year. He sits in the 95th percentile for fastball velocity in 2025 after finishing in the 99th percentile last season.</p>
