Alpine has yet to finish higher than fourth in the constructors' standings since 2021, but current team boss Flavio Briatore believes that'll change soon.

"In 2026, we can win races, I guarantee it, and in 2027, we want to be title contenders," he told Le Monde, according to ESPN's Nate Saunders.

Briatore took over after Oliver Oakes resigned earlier this month. He sees potential to nail the upcoming regulation changes in 2026. Alpine will also stop using Renault engines after this season and switch to using Mercedes power units, which is rumored to bring a strong competitive advantage.

The 75-year-old added that there will be no excuses not to be competitive.

"The easiest way to win is to sign Max Verstappen, but we can't. So we have to work with what we've got," Briatore explained.

He added: "Choosing to switch to Mercedes power was a very difficult decision, but in this sport, to win, you need to have the same tools as the others. For a million reasons rooted in the past, we were at a disadvantage in that area."

The French team has won one race and collected six podiums since rebranding from Renault to Alpine in 2021. Alpine is currently ninth in the 2025 constructors' standings with just seven points.
