Inter's last-gasp turnaround leaves beaten Tottenham crestfallen

Internazionale turned an abject showing into three points with an unlikely comeback against Tottenham Hotspur on Tuesday.

Christian Eriksen put Spurs ahead with a deflected effort that looped into the net, but Inter fought back through a Mauro Icardi screamer and 92nd-minute headed winner from Matias Vecino.

Spurs appeared to be coasting to a 1-0 win as Inter were toothless in attack, but Icardi's sensational hit and the subsequent introduction of Borja Valero from the bench breathed life into Luciano Spalletti's ranks and the San Siro crowd. In a matter of minutes, Tottenham had gone from a huge three points to begin Champions League Group B to a third consecutive defeat across all competitions for the first time under Mauricio Pochettino.

Once again, Harry Kane will face scrutiny for a largely ineffectual performance - he squandered a one-on-one with Samir Handanovic and didn't muster a shot on target or a key pass - while Icardi enjoyed a return to form with his opening strike of the campaign.

The next round of matches for this quartet is on Oct. 3, when Tottenham will host Barcelona and Inter will travel to PSV Eindhoven.
