Nicklas Backstrom is on track to be ready for training camp.
The Washington Capitals star center, who underwent hip surgery earlier this summer, has resumed skating and is progressing well in his recovery, general manager Brian MacLellan told reporters Monday.
While there was doubt about his availability for the beginning of next season following the surgery, he's expected to be a full participant at camp with more than a month of skating under his belt by that point.
Backstrom led all NHL players with 60 assists in 2014-15, adding 18 goals and finishing with the fifth-highest point total.
