The St. Louis Blues named forward Robert Thomas the 25th captain in team history Wednesday.

Thomas succeeds Brayden Schenn, who was dealt to the New York Islanders at the 2026 trade deadline. Schenn wore the "C" for parts of three seasons.
Colton Parayko, Philip Broberg, Jake Neighbours, and Dylan Holloway will serve as alternate captains.
Thomas has spent his entire eight-year career in St. Louis since the club drafted him 20th overall in 2017. He was part of the Blues' 2019 Cup-winning squad as a rookie.
The 27-year-old led the Blues in scoring for the third straight season in 2025-26, tallying 64 points in 64 games.
Thomas has been involved in trade rumors in recent years, but the captaincy announcement likely puts those to rest for now. He has five years left on his contract with an $8.125-million cap hit.
