Washington Capitals superstar pivot Nicklas Backstrom went under the knife Wednesday to repair minor damage to his hip, the team announced to reporters in a statement.
The Capitals are confident he'll be healthy and prepared to take the ice when the team reconvenes for training camp late this summer.
The NHL's premier setup man, Backstrom was the only player to reach the 60-assist plateau this season.
