The New York Rangers and restricted free-agent defenseman Braden Schneider avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year contract, the team announced Monday.
The deal is worth $5.5 million, reports Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman.
Schneider tallied two goals and 16 assists in 82 games last season while averaging a career-high 20:27 per contest. His minutes could dip next season as a result of the Rangers acquiring fellow right-shot defenseman Sean Durzi in a trade with the Utah Mammoth this offseason.
Schneider, 24, added 141 blocks and 163 hits in 2025-26. His underlying numbers have been poor for the majority of his career.

Schneider will be an RFA again next offseason before having the ability to become unrestricted in 2028. He's been involved in trade rumors for over a year.
The Rangers drafted Schneider 19th overall in 2020.
