Crosby, Malkin day-to-day with injuries
Pittsburgh Penguins veterans Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin are day-to-day with injuries and won't play Saturday against the Dallas Stars, the team announced.
Crosby is dealing with a lower-body injury he suffered Thursday against the Ottawa Senators. He was playing his fifth game since returning from a lower-body injury he incurred at the Olympics. Malkin is dealing with an upper-body injury and already missed Pittsburgh's last two games.
Crosby paces the Penguins with 64 points in 61 games this season. Malkin ranks fifth with 52 points in 50 contests.
Rookie forward Rutger McGroarty was promoted from the AHL and will be in the lineup Saturday. It'll be his first NHL appearance since Feb. 5.
The Penguins enter Saturday in second place in a tight Metropolitan Division.
