The Nashville Predators acquired forward Ross Colton and goaltender Isak Posch from the Colorado Avalanche for goaltender Magnus Chrona and third-round picks in 2026 and 2027, the teams announced Tuesday.

Colton tallied nine goals and 24 points in 73 games last season. He ranked third on the Avalanche with 159 hits. Colton added two goals and five points in 11 playoff contests.

The 29-year-old is signed through next year at a $4-million cap hit.

Predators president of hockey operations and general manager Chris MacFarland spent the last four seasons as Colorado's GM. Nashville hired him June 2.

The Avalanche acquired Colton from the Tampa Bay Lightning in June 2023 for a second-round pick. He produced 42 goals and 93 points in 214 contests with Colorado over three seasons.

Colton won the Stanley Cup with the Lightning in 2021. He scored the championship-winning goal in Game 5 against the Montreal Canadiens.

Posch posted an .891 save percentage in 28 games as a rookie with the AHL's Colorado Eagles. The Avalanche signed the 24-year-old as an undrafted free agent in March 2025 out of St. Cloud State.

Chrona signed a two-year contract in Sweden in May. He had an .894 save percentage in 25 appearances last season with the AHL's Milwaukee Admirals. The Avalanche will retain Chrona's signing rights if they issue him a qualifying offer.
