Ducks sign McTavish to 6-year contract worth reported $42M
The Anaheim Ducks signed restricted free agent Mason McTavish to a six-year contract, the team announced Saturday.
The contract carries a cap hit of $7 million, reports TSN's Pierre LeBrun.
McTavish missed the start of the Ducks' training camp amid the contract stalemate and was skating with the OHL's Ottawa 67s when camp began Sept. 18.
The 22-year-old tallied career highs with 22 goals and 52 points in 76 games last season, leading Anaheim in goals and ranking second in scoring behind Troy Terry.
"Mason is a key part of our team, and we're excited to reach a long-term agreement that reflects his importance to our future," Ducks general manager Pat Verbeek said.
"He's a highly skilled, physical, and competitive player who plays the game the right way. Mason has already made a significant impact at a young age, and we're confident he'll continue to grow into a top player as we build toward sustained success."
McTavish has accumulated 60 goals and 140 points in 229 career contests with the Ducks since being drafted third overall in 2021.
McTavish becomes the highest-paid forward on the Ducks alongside Mikael Granlund and Terry, who also carry $7-million cap hits.
New Jersey Devils defenseman Luke Hughes and Nashville Predators forward Luke Evangelista are restricted free agents who remain without contracts after McTavish's signing.
