Way-back Playback: Brett Favre's brief, terrible Atlanta Falcons stint
Remember the time Brett Favre played for the Atlanta Falcons and was mostly terrible?
It's OK if you don't. It was a long time ago, after all - long before Favre emerged as the league's premier gunslinger and one of the greatest quarterbacks in NFL history.
Favre became a superstar in Green Bay, but the Packers didn't actually draft the future Hall of Famer. Favre was taken 33rd overall by the Atlanta Falcons in 1991 following a four-year stint at Southern Mississippi.
And how did Favre fare with the Falcons? As the headline suggests, not well:
It's kind of fitting that the NFL's all-time leader in interceptions kicked off his pro career with a pick-6, no?
The Packers, clearly ignoring the existence of this highlight clip, acquired Favre for a first-round pick on Feb. 11, 1992 - and the rest is history.
