The Indianapolis Colts are signing cornerback Charvarius Ward to a three-year deal worth up to $60 million, reports ESPN's Adam Schefter.

The deal reportedly includes $35 million guaranteed and a $20-million signing bonus.

Ward spent the last three seasons with the San Francisco 49ers after signing a three-year, $42-million deal in March 2022. He was with the Kansas City Chiefs for the first four campaigns of his career and entered the league as an undrafted free agent.

The 28-year-old played in 12 games last season after missing time due to a knee injury and personal matter. His best year came in 2023, when he led the league in passes defended (23) while racking up five interceptions. He earned a Pro Bowl nod and was a second-team All-Pro.

Ward should slot in as one of Indianapolis' starting outside cornerbacks. Jaylon Jones started 17 games for the Colts last season, but the team failed to solidify a quality starter after JuJu Brents suffered a season-ending knee injury in September. Indianapolis ranked 23rd in EPA/dropback and passing success rate on defense in 2024, according to Ben Baldwin's database.

Ward has 70 passes defended and 10 interceptions in 102 career games.
