The Arizona Cardinals are unlikely to trade pass-rusher Josh Sweat, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
The 29-year-old's future with the team had been the subject of speculation after the Cardinals reportedly received trade calls for him.
Sweat recorded 13 tackles for loss and a career-high 12 sacks in 2025.
One reason for the perceived uncertainty around Sweat's status stemmed from his reportedly close relationship with former Cardinals head coach Jonathan Gannon, whom the team fired in January following a 3-14 season. The Green Bay Packers subsequently hired Gannon as their defensive coordinator, which seemingly made them a possible landing spot for the veteran edge rusher.
Instead, Sweat is expected to remain in Arizona, where he'll play under first-year head coach Mike LaFleur, the younger brother of Packers sideline boss Matt LaFleur.
Sweat signed a four-year, $76.4-million contract with Arizona in March 2025 after spending the first seven years of his career with the Philadelphia Eagles. He played a key role in the Eagles' Super Bowl LIX victory over the Kansas City Chiefs, registering 2.5 sacks.
Sweat carries a $16.3-million cap hit in 2026, according to Over the Cap. The Cardinals could generate $10.8 million in cap savings by trading him.
