"We said that we could do it all - Commanders, housing, park space, recreation, retail, entertainment, and more - and, together, that's what we are delivering."</p><p>The new stadium will have a capacity of roughly 65,000 seats. It will also have a roof, unlike the Commanders' current stadium, so it can have events all year long. Bowser is optimistic a new stadium would help attract major sporting events such as the Super Bowl, Final Four, and major concerts.</p><div class="the-score-article-ad-unit"></div><p>Primary owner Josh Harris previously mentioned his desire to open a new stadium by 2030, which is now the expected opening year for the new building. The Commanders' contract to play at Northwest Stadium in Landover, Maryland, runs through 2027. The club has the flexibility to extend the deal until the completion of a new stadium since it owns both the stadium and land.</p><p>The Commanders will invest $2.7 billion into the project. <p>Jake Paul has lined up his next fight.</p><p>Paul is set to face former middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. in a cruiserweight bout June 28 at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California, Most Valuable Promotions told <a href="https://www.espn.com/boxing/story/_/id/44732270/jake-paul-face-former-champion-julio-cesar-chavez-jr-june-28">ESPN's Andreas Hale</a>.</p><p>The 10-round fight will be broadcast on DAZN pay-per-view and will be co-promoted by MVP and Oscar De La Hoya's Golden Boy promotions. </p><div class="the-score-article-ad-unit"></div><p>"Five years ago, I stepped into the ring for my pro debut after a single amateur fight, and every fight since has been a step towards becoming world champion. I just defeated the baddest man on the planet, and now I'm going against a former champion who conman Canelo couldn't finish," Jake Paul said in a statement.</p><p>Paul's had a tough time finding his next opponent ever since defeating 58-year-old ex-heavyweight champion Mike Tyson in November. The YouTuber-turned-boxer appeared to have reached a deal to face superstar fighter Canelo Álvarez, only to have the reigning super-middleweight champion close a multi-fight deal with Riyadh Season instead. He was also <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///news/3246575" href="https://thescore.com/news/3246575">reportedly</a> in talks with Gervonta Davis about an exhibition fight before "Tank" faced Lamont Roach Jr. in March.</p><p>"The Problem Child" owns a 11-1 record as a professional, with seven of those victories coming via knockout. Paul's lone loss came in a split-decision defeat against Tommy Fury in February 2023.</p><p>Chavez, 39, held the WBC middleweight title from 2011-12 and successfully defended that belt three times. He owns a lifetime record of 54-6-1 with one no-contest and 34 knockout victories.</p><p>The Mexico native's most recent fight was a six-round unanimous win over ex-MMA star Uriah Hall this past July, a bout that was on the undercard of Paul's tilt against Mike Perry. However, that win was Chavez's first fight in three years.</p><p>"First of all, I will show what I can do now that everything is in the right place in my life - mentally and physically," Chavez said. "I feel rejuvenated and 10 years younger. Second, I want to thank MVP for taking the risk of fighting me. The 33-year-old was able to rebound from a TKO loss to Joaquin Buckley in March 2024. </p><p>Luque was scheduled to fight Nick Diaz on two separate occasions in 2024, but Diaz withdrew from both contests. </p><div class="the-score-article-ad-unit"></div><p>The 33-year-old enjoyed a four-fight win streak that included wins over Randy Brown and Michael Chiesa between 2020 and 2021. He said the coach left abruptly early in their conversation, returned with general manager Darren Mougey, and told Rodgers "20 seconds in" that the club would head in a new direction at quarterback, according to <a href="https://x.com/ZackBlatt/status/1912920918181187681">The Athletic's Zack Rosenblatt</a>.</p><p>"I've had a lot of great conversations with a lot of teams. "That wasn't a great conversation."</p><p>Rodgers was acquired in a trade from the Green Bay Packers in April 2023 to help the Jets become playoff contenders. However, Rodgers' two years with New York were underwhelming: He missed the entire 2023 campaign after tearing his left Achilles in the season opener, and although he returned in 2024 to pass for 3,897 yards and 28 touchdowns, he was largely inconsistent.</p><p>Rodgers said he was thankful for his time with the Jets and praised vice chairman Christopher W. <p>Legendary analyst and former head coach Lee Corso will retire from College GameDay after his final show Aug. 30, having been a fixture on the program since its 1987 debut, ESPN announced Thursday.</p><p>"My family and I will be forever indebted for the opportunity to be part of ESPN and College GameDay for nearly 40 years," Corso said in a statement. "I have a treasure of many friends, fond memories, and some unusual experiences to take with me into retirement. ...</p><p>"ESPN has been exceptionally generous to me, especially these past few years. They accommodated me and supported me, as did my colleagues in the early days of College GameDay. Special thanks to Kirk Herbstreit for his friendship and encouragement. His travel has also been limited in recent seasons.</p><p>"Coach Corso has had an iconic run in broadcasting, and we're all lucky to have been around to witness it. He has taught me so much throughout our time together, and he's been like a second father to me," College GameDay co-host Herbstreit said after working with Corso for 29 years. "It has been my absolute honor to have the best seat in the house to watch Coach put on that mascot head each week."</p><p>Corso served as a college and pro football coach for 28 years prior to his time with ESPN. As a head coach, he made stops at Indiana, Louisville, and Northern Illinois and in the USFL after starring at Florida State.</p>

<p>Syracuse head coach Fran Brown was upset with wide receiver Trebor Pena after he requested more NIL money and expressed concern about the Orange's quarterback situation prior to entering the transfer portal.</p><p>"We paid him enough," Brown told "<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AP6_fgW7_ts&amp;t=190s">Cuse Sports Talk</a>" on Wednesday. "He was going to get paid more. ... But there were some numbers that were asked to me that I didn't feel I would be able to do and move on. Of course, I treated him right. I took care of him, done everything that was needed. I just said, 'Yo, you've got to go.'"</p><p>Brown added, "A lot of times people think the grass greener on the other side, and then they get there and they find out it was turf."</p><div class="the-score-article-ad-unit"></div><p>Pena left the program Tuesday ahead of the spring transfer window, which opened Wednesday. The 6-foot, 184-pound wideout led Syracuse with 84 receptions for 941 yards and nine touchdowns last season.</p><p>While Brown praised Pena for his talent and production, he doesn't believe that the wideout was focused on leading a young Syracuse team next season.</p><p>"He's about him, to make sure he can do well because this is his last (year)," Brown said.</p><p>Brown also lamented Pena's desire for a raise after a strong 2024 season, saying that only Ohio State star <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///ncaaf/players/195944" href="https://thescore.com/ncaaf/players/195944">Jeremiah Smith</a> is worthy of a lofty salary at the college level.</p><p>"Sometimes people be asking for an outrageous number," Brown added. "You not about to make more than every coordinator. ... If you're going to make $2 million at wide receiver, that's the little homie over at Ohio State. Ain't nobody else making that money. (I'm not) giving no wide receiver no $2 million in college. Nah, that ain't me."</p><p>Brown was also miffed after Pena questioned whether LSU transfer quarterback <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///ncaaf/players/184839" href="https://thescore.com/ncaaf/players/184839">Rickie Collins</a> was ready to assume the starting role next season.</p><p>"That ain't your freaking job to be thinking that," Brown said. "I ain't got time for you to be doing all that stuff."</p><p>He added, "When they start trying to do your job and think too much and all, you've got to go. It's no point in them being there."</p><p>Brown guided the Orange to a 10-3 record in his head coaching debut last year. Syracuse earned double-digit wins for the first time since 2018 after defeating Washington State 52-35 in the Holiday Bowl.</p>
