The Baltimore Ravens selected Clemson cornerback Nate Wiggins in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft, No. 30 overall.

The Ravens are known for their preference for stocking the cornerback position. Baltimore has a strong top three corners in Marlon Humphrey, Brandon Stephens, and Arthur Maulet, though the position lacks depth behind the starters.

Humphrey has also struggled with injuries, and Stephens is a free agent after 2024, which likely fueled the Ravens' motivation to strengthen the position

"We're very, very excited to draft Nate Wiggins," said general manager Eric DeCosta, according to Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic. "In my opinion, the best cover corner in the draft. Ecstatic that he fell to us.".

Wiggins allowed only one touchdown reception in 293 coverage snaps last season, according to PFF. He also had two interceptions, six pass defenses, two forced fumbles, and 29 total tackles.

Pre-draft profile

Fluidity and athleticism are Wiggins' calling cards. He ran a blazing 40-yard dash at the combine, and his play speed matches the testing results, easily keeping pace with his assignments. Wiggins gives up more space than necessary when playing man coverage off the ball and doesn't flip his hips early enough when turning to run with receivers. Instead, he relies on his elite speed. Coaching should help shore up those weaknesses, but he'll likely remain a tackling liability thanks to his weight. Wiggins' height will be another asset in his tool kit in the pros, allowing him to match up with all kinds of receivers from Day 1.
