Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce will not play in Sunday's game against the Pittsburgh Steelers after failing to clear COVID-19 protocols, the team announced.

There was hope that Kelce could return after wide receiver Tyreek Hill cleared protocols Saturday.

Kelce, 32, was among the Chiefs players to land on the COVID-19 list earlier this week.

Blake Bell and Noah Gray are expected to fill in at tight end.

Kelce is in the midst of another strong season, recording 83 receptions and 1,066 receiving yards with seven touchdowns.

The Chiefs will also be without linebacker Nick Bolton and offensive lineman Lucas Niang for their meeting with the Steelers.
