Northern Illinois is going big to celebrate Huskie Stadium's 50th anniversary.
The program announced that the Huskies will wear 1965 throwback uniforms when they open the season on Sept. 5 against UNLV.
The uniforms are red with white numbers and feature "NI" on each sleeve. The new look is completed with a striped helmet and striped socks.
The 1965 squad won the Interstate Intercollegiate Athletic Conference title that year and appeared in the Mineral Water Bowl for the third time in four years.
