Texas landed a huge victory on the recruiting trail Friday, with five-star cornerback John Meredith III announcing his commitment to the Longhorns on the "Pat McAfee Show."
The 6-foot-2, 180-pound defensive back chose Texas over finalists Alabama and Texas A&M.

Meredith is the top-ranked cornerback and No. 2 overall prospect on ESPN's SC Next 300 for 2027.
The Longhorns have assembled a talented crop of prospects early in the 2027 recruiting cycle, as Meredith is head coach Steve Sarkisian's second five-star pledge alongside top-rated receiver Easton Royal.
Texas sits 10th in ESPN's rankings for the 2027 recruiting class but could move up following Meredith's commitment.
