Five-star defensive lineman Marcus Fakatou committed to Ohio State, he told On3's Hayes Fawcett.
Fakatou is the No. 13-ranked recruit in the 2027 class, according to ESPN's 300. He chose the Buckeyes over Georgia and Texas and canceled trips to Notre Dame and Oregon late in his recruiting process.
The 6-foot-7, 275-pound prospect began his career at Orange Lutheran High School in California and posted 69 tackles and seven sacks as a junior. He reclassified to the 2027 class and later announced he would transfer to Sierra Canyon for his senior year.
"There were a lot of reasons why I liked Ohio State," Fakatou told Rivals' Greg Biggins. "I've said from Day 1 that development was going to be the biggest factor for me, and there's not a better DL coach in the country than Larry Johnson."
He added, "You look at some of the edge rushers of the past, the Bosa brothers, Chase Young, and so many others, it's a great opportunity for me. I'm hoping to following in that tradition, and I feel great about my decision and it's definitely a weight off my back. Now I can focus on my upcoming season and getting ready for college."
Fakatou's commitment comes days after head coach Ryan Day secured a pledge from five-star offensive tackle Caden Moss. The program has also received commitments from two other five-star 2027 recruits, defensive end D.J. Jacobs and wide receiver Jamier Brown.
