South Florida will lose Jahmal McMurray almost as soon as it got him back.

The school announced Tuesday that the sophomore guard has elected to transfer from the program, and head coach Orlando Antigua released a statement addressing McMurray's desire to leave.

"This morning, Jahmal McMurray informed me of his intent to transfer from USF. Per his request, we have agreed to grant him an immediate release to do so," Antigua said. "I wish him the best in his future endeavors."

McMurray made his 2016 debut on Dec. 3 against George Washington after serving a six game suspension for violating team rules.

Over the course of that three game span, McMurray averaged 20.3 points, 2.7 rebounds, and two assists in 35.3 minutes. He averaged 15.2 points as a freshman over 35.2 minutes, and should be an attractive option for a team looking for a boost to its backcourt.
