It took longer than initially anticipated, but Philadelphia 76ers big man Jahlil Okafor underwent arthroscopic surgery Tuesday to repair a torn meniscus in his right knee, officially ending his rookie season.
Okafor's torn meniscus was discovered nearly two weeks ago, but the Sixers and their doctors took their time deliberating on the best course of action regarding his surgery. He'll begin his rehab Wednesday.
When the injury was revealed, the timetable for Okafor's recovery was pegged at six weeks, and there's been no word yet about whether that's changed.
The 20-year-old, taken third overall out of Duke last summer, averaged 17.5 points, seven rebounds, and 1.2 blocks across 53 games in his first NBA season.
