With the Minnesota Timberwolves still hammered by the injury bug, the NBA has granted them an additional 10-day hardship exception.
That means the Wolves will be able to keep forward Jeff Adrien for another 10 days following a successful 10-day stint. The exception allows a team to keep a 16th player on the roster if the roster meets certain injury criteria, which Minnesota meets easily with five players on the shelf.
On his first 10-day stretch with the club, Adrien appeared in five games, averaging 3.6 points, 4.8 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 1.2 blocks in 13.6 minutes. In 141 career games over parts of five seasons, Adrien has averaged 4.7 points and 4.3 rebounds in 14.2 minutes, shooting 47.6 percent from the floor.
The Wolves were said to have considered letting Adrien go to sign a point guard instead, but head coach Flip Saunders said he's more willing to play with Corey Brewer as a backup point than potentially play with just a single center on the roster.
