Orlando Magic forward Franz Wagner will be out for an indefinite period due to a high left ankle sprain, the team announced.

The 24-year-old requires more time to rehabilitate the lingering injury, according to the Magic. He will be re-evaluated in three weeks.

Wagner came off the bench in Orlando's last two games - both against the Milwaukee Bucks - but was on a strict minutes restriction. He'd missed nine straight contests and 25 of the Magic's last 27 games before appearing in both matchups before the All-Star break.

Before suffering the injury early in a Dec. 7 loss to the New York Knicks, Wagner was averaging 23.4 points on 48.7/35.4/82.3 shooting splits through 24 games, helping Orlando to a 14-10 start. When his teammate Paolo Banchero missed 10 games during that stretch with a groin strain, Wagner led the Magic to a 7-3 record in Banchero's absence.

The two Magic forwards have played 18 games together this year, totaling just 349 shared minutes. Orlando's most frequently deployed duo - Wendell Carter Jr. and Desmond Bane - have shared the court for 1,227 minutes in 2025-26.
