Oklahoma City Thunder guard George Hill will miss at least four weeks after undergoing a minor surgery on his right thumb, the team announced Tuesday.

The 12-year veteran has been an important contributor on a young Thunder squad, averaging 11.8 points and shooting 38.6% from distance over 14 appearances this season.

Reserve guards Hamidou Diallo and Theo Maledon could both see extended minutes during Hill's absence.

Oklahoma City acquired Hill from the Milwaukee Bucks this past offseason. The 34-year-old is a career 38.4% 3-point shooter and connected on an NBA-best 46% of his long-range attempts in 2019-20.

Hill is under contract through next season, but his salary for the 2021-22 campaign is only partially guaranteed.
