Forty-eight of 546 NBA players tested positive for COVID-19 during the league's initial testing phase from Nov. 24 to 30, the league announced Wednesday.

That represents an 8.8% positivity rate of those tested, which is lower than the current United States average of 10.2%, according to Johns Hopkins University.

Any players who tested positive in their team's market will be isolated until they are cleared under the rules established by the NBA and the NBPA in accordance with CDC guidance.

NBA teams are scheduled to begin individual workouts this week ahead of the scheduled Dec. 11 start of preseason play, and the Dec. 22 regular-season opener.

On Tuesday, the Golden State Warriors and Washington Wizards announced that a total of three unidentified players tested positive.
