The Los Angeles Dodgers would consider a reunion with super utility player Enrique Hernandez, who is having a down year with the Boston Red Sox and could be dealt before the Aug. 1 trade deadline, a source told The Athletic's Fabian Ardaya.
Los Angeles would use the 31-year-old in a niche role as opposed to utilizing him on an everyday basis, Ardaya adds.
Hernandez spent six years of his career with the Dodgers from 2015-2020, winning a World Series with them, while posting a .737 OPS and playing six different positions.
The Puerto Rican joined the Red Sox in free agency following the 2020 campaign and played well during his first year in Boston, hitting 20 home runs and 35 doubles.
Since then, Hernandez has batted .220 and been worth minus-1 fWAR.
The Dodgers are also monitoring the New York Mets, according to Ardaya, who mentions David Robertson, Tommy Pham, and Mark Canha as possible players of interest.
