The Los Angeles Angels are trying to land one-to-two impact starting pitchers this offseason, sources told Jon Morosi of MLB Network.
Los Angeles is reportedly eyeing free-agent left-handers Robbie Ray and Eduardo Rodriguez.
Both pitchers are tied to draft-pick compensation after the Toronto Blue Jays and Boston Red Sox extended one-year, $18.4-million qualifying offers.
Ray, a Cy Young finalist, led the American League in ERA (2.84), innings pitched (193 1/3 innings), and WHIP (1.04) last season. The 30-year-old also recorded an MLB-best 248 strikeouts.
Meanwhile, Rodriguez accrued a 3.32 FIP with 185 strikeouts over 157 2/3 innings (31 starts) in 2021 after missing all of 2020 with myocarditis.
The Angels' starting rotation finished with the sixth-worst ERA (4.78) in the AL last season as the team missed the playoffs for the seventh consecutive year.
