Toronto Blue Jays outfielder George Springer has been diagnosed with a low-grade quad strain, and manager Charlie Montoyo thinks he'll miss more time.

"I don't expect him playing this homestand," Montoyo said, according to Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.

The Blue Jays open a seven-game homestand Thursday in Dunedin, Florida. They are scheduled to play four games against the Los Angeles Angels and the next three against the New York Yankees.

Springer was targeting Thursday night as his Blue Jays debut after missing the start of the season with an oblique strain.

If he's able to join the team as soon as the homestand is complete, Springer could make his season debut Thursday, April 15 against the Royals in Kansas City.

The Blue Jays signed Springer to a six-year, $150-million contract in January.
