It was so darn hot on Saturday, and the Minnesota Twins felt every bit of it.
In addition to losing 14-9 to the Chicago Cubs, the Twins saw Eddie Rosario, Bobby Wilson, and Max Kepler leave the game due to heat illness as the temperatures reached 96 degrees, according to ESPN. With the heat index, it felt more like 107.
Rosario left the game in the bottom of the fifth inning after hitting a two-run home run in the top half. Wilson left shortly after scoring a run in the sixth.
"I just couldn't catch my breath,'' Wilson said. "My heart was fluttering. I felt dizzy. Started getting a headache. Just couldn't even hold a conversation in the dugout.''
All three players were treated with IVs.
It may be more of the same for Sunday afternoon's game at Wrigley Field. The National Weather Service is calling for an excessive heat warning that's expected to remain in place until Sunday evening.
