The name Hoffman is synonymous with the San Diego Padres thanks to the closing ability of Trevor, who saved 552 games during 16 seasons with the club before retiring after the 2010 season.
San Diego decided to thank Hoffman for all of his hard work with the team by drafting his son Quinn in the 36th round of the MLB draft on Saturday.
Quinn, a high school prospect from Cathedral Catholi, is an 18-year-old shortstop from San Diego, so the hometown connection is there as well.
Trevor currently maintains a role with the Padres as the team's senior advisor for baseball operations.
