2015 NFL Scouting Combine

DAY 3

Winston oozes confidence

Jameis Winston said he plans on winning the Super Bowl as a rookie and sees himself in competition with Tom Brady and Peyton Manning, not Marcus Mariota.

Winston oozed confidence as he addressed the media Friday. He downplayed his checkered past at Florida State and said he's fully focused on what's ahead of him. In the immediate future, that means participating in throwing drills at the combine Saturday.

Winston downplayed a report he needs medical testing on his throwing shoulder and laughed off rumors he's struggled to keep his weight down.

Running backs and receivers complete the bench press

With their on-field program slated for Saturday, running backs and receivers took to the bench press as a warmup on Friday.

Sammie Coates, Geremy Davis and Kevin White set the pace for the receivers with 23 reps apiece.

Meanwhile, the running backs were led by Hawaii's Joseph Iosefa, who posted 30 reps.

Brandon Scherff withdraws with injury

Offensive lineman Brandon Scherff's on-field performance was short-lived Friday. The Iowa product was forced to withdraw from the combine after injuring his hamstring in an early drill.

Scherff will have the chance to show off his athletic abilities at his pro day.

Gurley won't let doctors look at knee

Top running back prospect Todd Gurley reportedly won't let combine doctors examine his surgically repaired ACL. Many in the draft community consider medical check-ups to be the most important facet of the event.

Gurley is expected to submit to medical examinations at a date closer to the draft.

Thompson to work out at RB

Shaq Thompson made it clear he wanted to be viewed as a linebacker, but NFL personnel want to see him showcase his skills at running back. Thompson played both positions at Washington, and some see him as a safety in the mold of Kam Chancellor.

Combine Stock Watch: Division III prospect shines; Gregory's weight a red flag?

Ali Marpet - a center out of Division III's Hobart & William Smith - made some noise at the combine Friday.

After a solid showing in the bench press Thursday, Marpet followed things up with the best 40 time among offensive linemen and a second-place finish in the 20-yard shuttle.

While Marpet improved his stock, Randy Gregory may have hurt his.

Gregory measured in at 6-foot-4 and 235 pounds Friday, a very light weight for a pass-rushing prospect. Gregory's weight may lead teams to conclude the Nebraska product can't play 4-3 defensive end and is exclusively a 3-4 outside linebacker.

Find out who else rose and fell in today's Combine Stock Watch.
