"I know I made mistakes. I know I have a past. Right now it's about moving forward."

That's how Jameis Winston opened his hotly anticipated press conference at the NFL Scouting Combine on Friday. Looking forward, not back was a common theme as Winston fielded questions from a large media contingent.

Winston wasn't pressed to explain his multiple off-field transgressions at Florida State, but did appear to understand that his actions will constantly be under the microscope in the NFL.

"I know the responsibilities I have to take upon when I'm going to be the face of someone's franchise," he said.

Winston appeared confident and at ease as he spoke about his plans for success in the NFL. He said he doesn't see himself in a competition with Marcus Mariota to be the first quarterback drafted, but instead in a competition with Tom Brady and the NFL's best quarterbacks.

"I plan on winning the Super Bowl next year," he boasted.

Never was Winston's affable personality more apparent than when he laughed off a pre-combine rumor about his supposedly ballooning weight:

Winston confirmed he underwent an MRI on his throwing shoulder Thursday but downplayed a report suggesting he's scheduled for additional testing after the initial results raised some red flags

Winston said he plans to throw at the combine Saturday, calling himself "a competitor."
