Shaq Thompson working out at running back during NFL combine
Joe Nicholson / USA TODAY Sports
Shaq Thompson is working out at a number of positions during the NFL Scouting Combine, despite his insistence that he's a linebacker.
Thompson played running back at Washington and some believe that his combination of speed and power would make him a strong safety in the mold of Seattle's Kam Chancellor or Arizona's Deone Bucannon.
NFL Network's Mike Mayock ranks Thompson as the second-best safety prospect after Alabama's Landon Collins.
27 other players will perform at multiple positions during the combine.
Thompson recorded 81 tackles and an interception, en route to being named an All-American. He also rushed for 456 yards and two touchdowns out of the backfield.
