Bonnie Samuelson lifts No. 16 Stanford past UC Davis 71-59
STANFORD, Calif. (AP) Bonnie Samuelson scored a career-high 30 points and No. 16 Stanford turned back UC Davis 71-59 on Monday to end a two-game losing streak that saw the Cardinal drop out of the top 10 for the first time since Jan. 16, 2009.
Samuelson hit 8 of 13 shots, including 6 of 10 3-pointers, and 8 of 10 free throws. It was the fifth time she had six treys but her previous best scoring game was 21.
Kaylee Johnson added 11 points and 11 rebounds for Stanford (7-4).
Alyson Doherty had 17 points and Sydnee Fipps 13 for the Aggies (4-7).
Celia Marfone's 3 had Davis within 53-49 with 9:05 to go before Stanford had a 12-3 surge, capped by a Samuelson 3, to lead by 12 with 3:18 remaining.
With losses at Chattanooga and Tennessee, the Cardinal dropped to their lowest ranking since they were 16 on Jan. 2, 2006.
