Despite hanging up his boots almost five years ago, former Manchester United net-minder Edwin van der Sar has decided to give professional football another go.
The 45-year-old, who last played a competitive match in 2011 during Manchester United's Champions League final loss to Barcelona, announced earlier in the week that he would come out of retirement to assist his boyhood club, VV Noordwijk, for one match after its first-team 'keeper went down with an injury.
The Dutch 'keeper's world class reflexes were put to the ultimate test during the fourth-tier fixture as Van der Sar was able to turn back the clock and save a shot from the penalty spot with ease.
