Genoa confirmed Sunday goalkeeper Mattia Perin has suffered a ruptured ACL, an injury sustained during a 1-0 loss to Roma. As a result, Perin is set to undergo surgery in the coming days.
Last year in April, Perrin suffered a similar injury to his right knee which required surgery and saw him miss the remainder of the season, returning on Sept. 18 but missing Euro 2016 entirely for Italy.
However, this current setback occurred to the opposite left knee.
Perin sustained the injury in just the third minute of play while making a spectacular back-to-back save on an Edin Dzeko rebounded effort and carried on until the ninth minute before being substituted for Eugenio Lamanna.
The 24-year-old has made 16 appearances for Genoa this season.
