A pair of Eastern Conference contenders swapped minor-league forwards Sunday as the Washington Capitals traded Chris Brown to the New York Rangers in exchange for Ryan Bourque, the teams announced.
Bourque, son of Hall of Famer Raymond, has appeared in one career NHL game, coming with the Rangers last season.
Capitals general manager Brian MacLellan was looking to add a depth forward "that could go up and down," according to the Washington Post's Isabelle Khurshudyan, and the 25-year-old may fill that role.
Brown, also 25, has three points in 23 career NHL games. He appeared in one game this season, Dec. 10 against the Florida Panthers, and recorded one shot on goal.
