Robin Lehner is ready to dig his injured right ankle into the ice.
The Buffalo Sabres will send their offseason acquisition in goal to Rochester for a rehab assignment in the American Hockey League this week, the team announced Tuesday.
Lehner has been out since the Sabres' season-opening loss to the Ottawa Senators after suffering a high ankle sprain.
Chad Johnson and Linus Ullmark have filled in effectively, but their contributions are slightly below the league average. The Sabres rank 18th with a .911 team save percentage.
Ullmark will start Tuesday versus the scorching hot Florida Panthers.
