New York Islanders defenseman Johnny Boychuk left Thursday's game against the Buffalo Sabres in obvious discomfort after running into the boards at high speed. Head coach Jack Capuano announced the blue-liner is day to day.
Boychuk was hurt during the third period after he missed an attempted hit on Sabres forward Jack Eichel. He went straight to the locker room with what appears to be a left shoulder injury.
The 31-year-old recorded an assist earlier in the game, giving him 14 points this season.
