Wild bring in goaltender Leland Irving on pro tryout
Kirby Lee / US PRESSWIRE
Ex-Calgary Flames goaltender Leland Irving is competing for a contract with the Minnesota Wild on a professional tryout, reports Michael Russo of the Star Tribune.
Leland, a former first-round pick, spent the last two seasons overseas, most recently making 20 starts for Ufa Salavat Yulayev of the KHL.
He's a long shot to make the big club out of camp, but with a strong showing, he could earn an opportunity to remain in North America with the Wild's AHL affiliate in Iowa.
