After trading away one of their minor-league goalies in the deal for forward T.J. Oshie, the Washington Capitals made a replacement signing Saturday.
The Capitals agreed to terms with goaltender Dan Ellis on a one-year, two-way contract, the team announced.
The 35-year-old split last season between the Florida Panthers and the San Antonio Rampage of the American Hockey League. He went 4-3-1 with a .914 save percentage and a 2.35 goals-against average with the Panthers. With the Rampage, he recorded a 22-12-3 record with a .904 save percentage and a 2.71 GAA in 37 games.
Ellis joins the club after goaltender Pheonix Copley was sent to the St. Louis Blues in the Oshie trade.
